Happy Thursday Thrift Fans!

We love hearing from you, our loyal and thrifty customers. It’s so great to see pictures & hear the stories behind the treasures you find and the creative ways you incorporate them into your lives.

Our quarterly “What a Find” contest is a great way for us to show off what you all have sent in and celebrate thrift together. It’s always hard to choose for each category, but we’ve narrowed it down and already notified the lucky winners. Whether it’s finding that special piece for your special interest, getting stylish high-end fashion for way less, or using thrifted items as the starting point for your artistic creations, our winners show off what we love about shopping secondhand at Thrift Town.
Each of our featured winners received a $25 Thrift Town Gift Card prize.
This is an ongoing contest for us, so if you have something fabulous to share – send it in!
And we added a fun new category; ”What the Thrift?  Craziest Thrift Find!”For more info click here.

————–———AND THE WINNERS ARE ———–————-

BEST Housewares : Jennifer D. Albuquerque, NM

I had been trying to get healthier and was reading a lot about why you should not use nonstick pans, but I didn’t want to go out and spend several hundred dollars on a set of stainless steel pans that I may not even like once I get them. So I was soo excited to find this set of Faberware Millennium stainless steel pans in excellent condition.

I have been using them alot and love them, they are just what I wanted.  The sticker price on them was $29.99 for the set, but it was July 3rd and the whole store was on sale 30% off so they were an even better deal. Thanks for having such an awesome store!

We’d like to think that Thrift Town puts the FUN back in Functional. Finding great housewares is such a gratifying thing. A great price & value on something you need, especially if it’s something you’d wanted & couldn’t afford before = the best. Enjoy!

BEST Find: Tamara P. Salt Lake City
I found a Palek Russian Lacquer box of a “Winter Troika” scene, 4″ in diameter marked at $2.99.  With my coupon ($5 off $15) prorated with the other items I bought, it cost me $2 total.
Thirty years ago, Tamara was sad to miss out on a trip in the military. Here’s her story:
“My friend, went on the trip and brought back a darling black and gold Palekh box for me depicting a colorful Troika with horses dashing through a winter scene.  I understand he paid a king’s ransom for this box in Russia, the equivalent of $120 in 1984.  That box held many small precious objects over the years which it imbued it with many pleasant memories.”
Over the years and many military moves, she lost track of the little box. And then:
“Today, when I spotted this little round box gleaming at me from among the bric a brac section at Thrift Town, I wasn’t surprised to see it.  Things you love have a way of coming back to you.  Although this box is round and my box was rectangular, the subject matter and town of origin are the same. I am delighted to see my friend again in a familiar but slightly different form.”
Boxes similar to her $2 Thrift Town find sell online at prices ranging from $80-278 — Great find, Tamara!
So happy you’re “reunited” with such a special treasure.
BEST DIY: Christine D. San Lorenzo
I have been a loyal Thrift Town customer for years and years now, and I re-purpose many of the cool things I find.
I bought a headboard along with the foot board, and rails.  I paid 15.00 for it, (of course it was ½ off) brought it home and explained my vision to my boyfriend.
My vision, his handiwork, and a 5.00 board from Home Depot, turned into this beautiful garden bench.
I love it, and I love Thrift Town! I also do stained glass, and for years have been picking up wine glasses, martini glasses, and vases, and adding vintage rhinestones to them by the leaded foil method, and they are beautiful candleholders, and vases…
BEST FASHION FIND: Jennifer H. Sacramento, Stockton Blvd.
I figured the shoes might not be too picked over while everyone was busy with the half-price clothing sale, and I was right!

I found these BEAUTIFUL, unique, mint-condition vintage Salvatore Ferragamo heels with mother-of-pearl detail for $3.99!  They must have just been put out on the shelf, or they surely would have been GONE.  My lucky day!
Best Bargain Winner: Kimberly M. San Francisco
I purchased this purse at your San Francisco location for $19.99.  Being Kate Spade brand and in essentially new condition I couldn’t resist.
When I got home I researched the item online – it was still being sold online for $368!  I wear it all the time and always get compliments.  It is sparkly, fun and totally on trend.  Thanks Thrift Town!
It’s so great when our customers find valuable pieces and are able to either treasure them or really get their money’s worth by selling it to an interested buyer.
Craziest Find Winner: Sandy N. Fremont CA

I like to check out the figurines and other items on the shelf. Then I came across this funny looking clown doll, with a strange face.

I read the tag and it says it’s an Apple-head doll that were made in the pioneer days from leftovers after canning and cider making. The doll looks really old and kind of gross. My son & I got a good laugh out of it.

Congrats again to all our winners! You always inspire us.
It’s wonderful knowing that our customers are thrilled with
