Me in my thrifted apron.

World Baking Day is May 17th!

I’m no celebrity chef, but I have a feeling your treats and your family won’t know (or care) they were baked with thrifted spatulas, bowls and baking sheets. Mine don’t!

Strap on your favorite apron. Pre-heat the oven and crack an egg. It’s time to slow things down and bake your own yummy homemade treats. You’ve probably noticed, but It’s so easy to buy treats at the market or gourmet corner bakery these days, but I’ve got to say that slowing it down and taking the time to bake something with my own two hands is so rewarding. It warms my soul and my belly. Plus, homemade baked goods are always better than store-bought.

Baking gear is expensive at fancy specialty stores, or even at the grocery store. Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret. Many of these expensive kitchen tools end up on the shelves of our stores for pennies on the dollar. Stocking up your kitchen? Save yourself some “dough” and shop secondhand first! Thrift Town is a great resource for cookbooks and baking supplies that won’t break the bank. We also get in coveted vintage items with a history that you just can’t buy new.
